What’s Going on in This Picture? A Brief Introduction to Visual Thinking Strategies
Jenny Saxton, Faculty Librarian, Learning Resources, Kendall Campus

Visual Thinking Strategies (VTS) is a teaching technique that can help students develop critical thinking and effective communication skills through facilitated discussions of visual images. Originally designed to help young people learn to approach works of art, VTS can be used with all ages and adapted for all disciplines. This session will give you the opportunity to experience a VTS discussion, learn how VTS is being used in a variety of educational environments, and brainstorm ideas for incorporating VTS into your teaching, tutoring, and information literacy instruction.

Objectives

  • Define VTS and understand the structure of a VTS discussion.
  • Relate Visual Thinking Strategies to MDC’s Learning Outcomes.
  • Explore possibilities for incorporating VTS into curricular and co-curricular activities at MDC.

Recording will be posted soon!
