Utilizing Technology to Enhance Learning Process in Tutoring Sessions

This session will showcase how STEM faculty and tutors have leveraged freely available software to maximize student learning in the traditional and remote classroom. Using OneNote and a Surface Pro tablet, Dr. Rodriguez delivers a highly visual and interactive lesson that can be recorded for later viewing and reviewing, thus appealing to all learning levels in his class. STEM lab tutors will demonstrate how to further support student academic success through the integration of Active Inspire Software into Blackboard for use during a tutoring session or in a classroom. This workshop aims to demonstrate how the effective use of technology can equalize the learning process among students.

Objectives

  • Demonstrate functionality of OneNote / Surface Pro and demonstrate the benefits of using this technology to facilitate a classroom lecture.
  • Demonstrate the practicality of integrating Active Inspire Software with Blackboard.
  • Discuss best practices when using these tools to ensure sessions are interactive, fluid, and result in effective tutoring sessions.
