This breakout session will address and define sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking and its impact on Academic Success. The session will address and make participants aware of MDC policies in place concerning sexual assault, provide workforce training, and direct victims and advocates to resources. The session will deliberately focus on integrating a safe space culture free of sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking specifically within MDC’s tutoring spaces and sessions. This session will address sexual harassment case studies within educational tutoring centers and include a Q&A. Lastly, tips and guidelines will be given to encourage tutors to advocate for themselves, victims, and survivors providing empathy and equity.

Objectives

  • Define sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking and its impact
  • Understand the impact of sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking issues and how to report known issues.
  • Utilize empowering language when working with victims/survivors
  • Identify MDC and community resources to provide support to the victim/survivors
